Overview

About this trip

A short Mara trip for people who live here, or who are here for work and have a weekend free.

Friday afternoon out, back Sunday evening. Two nights, three game drives, and no annual leave required.

Most of our trips are built for visitors flying in for a fortnight. This one is not. It assumes you already know the country, do not need the Nairobi orientation, and want the time spent in the park rather than on the way to it.

Highlights
  • Two nights in the Mara over a weekend
  • Three game drives, including a full day
  • Road or a short flight from Nairobi
  • Resident and citizen park rates where they apply
  • Easy to repeat, and easy to bring guests on

Questions

Frequently asked

Do residents and citizens pay less?
Yes. Park fees are tiered by citizenship and residence. Bring your ID or residence documentation, because it is checked at the gate.
Is two nights enough?
It is tight but it works, which is the point. Three nights is better if you can take the Monday.
Can we fly instead of driving?
Yes, and on a two-night trip it is worth considering. The flight is about forty-five minutes against five to six hours by road, which buys back a game drive at each end.
Can we bring visiting family?
Yes. This works well for diaspora families bringing people home, and we can add Nairobi or the coast on either side.
Is it good for children?
Yes, though the drive is long. Tell us their ages and we will suggest a camp that suits.
